Updated 15 October 2026.
TaskChef is a native local dashboard. It reads Codex chat metadata, prompts, responses, turn state, recorded token usage, queued prompts, image references and schedules to display the board and chat details. These may contain personal or confidential information.
Local storage and retention
Codex owns its databases and history. TaskChef stores preferences, manual Done marks, notification state, GitHub connection state and derived caches locally. These persist until removed or reset on your computer. Cache expiry rules vary by cache; removing TaskChef does not promise deletion of its local state or Codex history. See storage locations.
External services
Using Codex is subject to OpenAI’s data practices. The optional GitHub connection sends authentication requests and repository/PR lookups to GitHub. TaskChef stores GitHub credentials in the system keyring; local connection/cache state also persists on your computer. Pricing updates fetch the official OpenAI pricing page; chat records are not included in that request. Information you deliberately share in support reports is handled by the service where you submit it, such as GitHub.
This website includes no analytics scripts, advertising trackers, account forms or third-party image embeds. Its hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes web requests to deliver the site.
Your controls
Choose which chats appear, disable card usage, and disconnect GitHub in TaskChef settings. You can remove local TaskChef files, but preserve anything you need first. These actions do not erase Codex history. Use Support for privacy questions.
